1. Weatherproof and Durability Ratings:

Look for an outdoor soundbar with a high weatherproof or IP (Ingress Protection) rating. This ensures that the soundbar can withstand exposure to rain, humidity, dust, and extreme temperatures.

The higher the IP rating, the better it can handle adverse weather conditions.

Check the sound quality and power output of the soundbar. Look for models that deliver clear and powerful audio.

3. Wireless Connectivity Options:

Opt for a soundbar that offers versatile wireless connectivity options. Bluetooth connectivity allows you to easily stream music from your smartphone.

4. Built-in Lighting Effects:

Some outdoor soundbars come with built-in LED lighting effects, adding ambiance and style to your ATV. These lights can often be customized to flash to the beat of the music or match your mood or the occasion.

5. Mounting and Installation Methods:

Consider how the soundbar can be mounted or installed in your ATV. If this is complicated, consider you may need a professional to install it for you.

6. Additional Accessories for Outdoor Soundbars:

Explore any additional accessories that may enhance your outdoor soundbar experience. This could include protective covers or brackets for convenient placement.

7. User Reviews and Ratings

Take the time to read user reviews and ratings of the outdoor soundbar you’re considering. Real-world experiences from other users can provide valuable insights into the product’s performance, durability, and ease of use.

Outdoor Soundbar Buyer’s Guide

We will go into further detail about why we chose the order of our list of which soundbars are best for outdoors. We have also linked a few articles to help you with your decision on the perfect soundbar for your outdoor activities!

1. ECOXGEAR SoundExtreme SE26

The ECOXGEAR SoundExtreme SE26 is one of the best outdoor soundbars with blue LEDS.

Product Dimensions: 25.5 x 4.5 x 6.5 inches

Item Weight: 11 pounds

Manufacturer: ECOXGEAR

Speaker Type: Woofer, Tweeter, Soundbar

Connectivity Technology: Bluetooth

Special Feature: Waterproof, USB Port, Shockproof

We have rated this the best soundbar for outdoor use as we think it exceeds all expectations plus being good value for the price tag.

This soundbar is portable and offers a variety of features to let you enjoy high-quality sound outdoors. Whether you’re having a barbeque, camping, playing sports, or other activities this soundbar will come to great use.

Let’s look at the features that made it to #1.

Here’s why the ECOXGEAR SoundExtreme SE26 has made our top-rated list.

This model has excellent durability and is built to last. It is water and weatherproof. This means you can take it by the beach, pool, or even in the rain without worrying it will get damaged.

When you’re on the move you need to ensure your device will last a long time with no power outlet outdoors. This device has 20 hours of battery life which would be great for longer trips away from home.

This model can be easily mounted on ATVs, boats, and other RVs. It can also be easily connected to a smartphone, tablet, or any other device via Bluetooth.

This soundbar has multiple inputs like aux and USB and a microphone installed which we thought was advanced for this price range. This allows you to hook up your phone, take calls from your soundbar, and talk to Siri or OK Google.

The soundbar can be connected to more wired speakers or a powered subwoofer (sold separately) via an aux.

The LEDs are also a nice touch for giving a modernized look to your off-roader, ATV, or boat. etc.

Sound quality may not be as good as higher-priced soundbars, if you are looking for audiophile-quality sound, you may be disappointed. We found the bass to be slightly lacking and some distortion is apparent, however, with that being said it’s a great versatile soundbar with good sound quality.

The microphone and USB may not be compatible with all devices or platforms, but it would be worth checking before buying.

Plus, It is worth noting that it does come with a remote control but unfortunately, it does not yet have an app.

2. BOSS Audio Systems BRT26RGB

BOSS Audio Systems BRT26RGB in black with LEDs and remote controls

Product Dimensions: 26.38 x 4.88 x 3.74 inches

Item Weight: 13.2 pounds

Manufacturer: BOSS Audio Systems

Speaker Type: Tweeter, Soundbar

Connectivity Technology: Bluetooth, Auxiliary, USB

Special Feature: Built-In Amplifier, Weatherproof, RGB Multicolor Illumination

We have chosen this soundbar as it has a lot of great features for outdoor use. The easy Bluetooth connection, RBG lighting, and multiple input options can be a good choice for anyone looking to upgrade their outdoor biking/boating experience.

This powerful soundbar stands apart from competitors with its durable construction and multiple mounting options making it easy to install in various places on off-roaders, boats, ATVs… etc.

Here’s why this soundbar made it to #2 on our list…

Many outdoor soundbars do not have the best sound quality in this price range. However, we found this one to be more impressive with its powerful built-in A/B amplifier. It enhances the sound well and delivers clear and crisp audio quality.

Additionally, if this still isn’t enough sound for you, this model has a pre-amp input so you can connect other systems such as subwoofers…etc to give it more kick.

The Bluetooth also automatically reconnects to the last device, so if you’re connected to the same device you don’t have the hassle to reconnect every time you switch the soundbar on and you can charge your phone on the go with its charging port.

Not to mention it is weatherproof, protected against all bad weather and rain, and very durable. To install you can slide the brackets different ways on the top or bottom so the soundbar can be placed in multiple different areas of your choice.

This outdoor soundbar is marine-approved therefore you can install it on boats too. It has three channels to insert the brackets in different areas allowing you to fit it in multiple ways.

It’s great for camping and nighttime rides as it has built-in LEDs which can be customized by the remote to suit the mood and ambiance and go with the beat of your music.

Some users may find the LEDs quite distracting when driving if the soundbar is front-facing to the driver. However, you can turn them off but this can seem like a mystery at first glance.

To turn off the LEDs you press the power button for a second. This will turn off the LEDs and keep the soundbar running and a long power button hold will turn the device off completely. We thought this maybe could be more clear.

There are limitations on the Bluetooth range which could be a turn-off for some and it is a little pricier than some of the other soundbars we have experienced.

But we strongly recommend this soundbar despite the few small flaws and it would be a great addition to elevating your outdoor experience!

3. BOSS Audio Systems BRT26A

BOSS Audio Systems BRT26A outdoor soundbar without LEDs lights to be mounted onto off-roading vehicles

Product Dimensions: 26 x 4.88 x 3.75 inches

Item Weight: 11.75 pounds

Manufacturer: BOSS Audio Systems

Speaker Type: Soundbar

Connectivity Technology: Bluetooth, Auxiliary, USB

Special Feature: Waterproof, USB port

If you didn’t like the model with LEDs above, then you will love this one! It’s got a lot of the good features we saw from the Boss Audio Systems BRT26RGB model but without the LEDs.

Similar to the other Boss model, it is compact and has multiple mounting options making it a good choice for any off-roader, ATV or quad….etc.

This model is easy to install, you can have it up and running in seconds by plugging it into the cigarette lighter power cord. Plus, with the attached USB cable you can also charge your phone.

You can listen to your favorite tunes on the move intensified by a built-in A/B amplifier and with a weatherproof rating of IPX5. You can do it rain or shine!

There are two ways to listen to music, podcasts, and audiobooks on this model. You can either connect via Bluetooth or use the AUX cable which gives you more options on which devices to use.

Additionally, this outdoor soundbar is fully marinized and can be used on boats too.

Like a lot of other BOSS products, if purchased through Amazon.com it does come with a 3-year warranty for peace of mind which other soundbar products do not offer.

In summary, it does have all the great features of the last model for a cheaper price if you skip the LED feature.

Adding additional speakers is limited to a 3.5mm input jack and this soundbar has no audio signal wires to add additional speakers. However, to do this you could use a 3.5 mm Y splitter to connect other speakers/subwoofer. But this would not be possible in Bluetooth mode.

Finally, the biggest criticism is the bass is a bit lacking and the sound quality could be a little better for the price.

Other than these things, it’s great value and definitely fit to provide your favorite music outdoors.

4. BOSS Audio Systems ATV30BRGB

BOSS Audio Systems ATV30BRGB bluetooth speaker model with LEDs

Product Dimensions: ‎28.5 x 11.6 x 7.9 inches

Item Weight: 12.45 pounds

Manufacturer: BOSS Audio Systems

Speaker Type: Soundbar

Connectivity Technology: Bluetooth, Auxiliary

Yet, another appearance from the BOSS audio systems family makes it into our top 7 best soundbars for the outdoors.

Compared to the other outdoor soundbars this has a more unique design that can add a modern spin to your vehicle. With its LED lighting this is sure to inject some energy into your ride or RV party and can be set to go to the beat of the music.

This model is convenient for those wanting to listen to audio on the move. You have multiple options for connectivity with Bluetooth, an Aux cable, and a USB to charge your device.

It comes with four heavy-duty straps with a hook and loop for multiple mounting positions on an ATV, UTV, or off-roader. It even has a mounting clamp for the remote which is a nice feature.

Like the other BOSS audio system models, it is fully marinized so it can within harsh weather conditions and has a rating of IPX5 on the weatherproof scale.

Overall we found the sound quality good, This soundbar has 1-inch tweeters, 6.5-inch speakers, and a built-in A/B amplifier.

You can add more devices such as subwoofers but you are limited to 3.5 mm aux as previously discussed you could use a Y splitter if you wanted to bypass this.

Plus, It’s easy to install, all you have to do is plug your cigarette lighter power cord in, and then you are up and running to play whatever you like.

If bought through Amazon.com you do get a 3-year warranty with this model too – so that could be something definitely worth noting.

Some users found the LED lighting a pointless feature and found it distracting when driving their vehicles. In our personal opinion, this does depend on what you will be using the soundbar for.

If you are using it in an RV, camping, or tailgating then the lights are a good feature to go with your music and add some nice visual features.

If you are just planning to install the soundbar on a quad, UTV, ATV…etc for your own personal use for the purpose of listening to the audio, then it would maybe be a better idea to go for an LED-free model.

We found the remote to be quite difficult to navigate, you have to push the buttons a little hard to get a response, and found it hard to get the LEDs to steady instead of flicker to the beat of the music.

In conclusion, this is a great option for someone with an RV, who likes camping and tailgating and this soundbar would easily complement those activities.

5. EXOXGEAR SoundExtreme SE18

A black ECOXGEAR SoundExtreme SE18 outdoor soundbar

Product Dimensions: ‎17 x 4.5 x 4.5 inches

Item Weight: 7.72 pounds

Manufacturer: ECOXGEAR

Speaker Type: Soundbar

Connectivity Technology: Bluetooth

This could be the perfect choice for someone looking for a durable, waterproof soundbar with great-quality sound.

The EXOXGEAR SoundExtreme SE18 promises to deliver powerful and high-quality sound with its dual woofers. Plus, with its waterproof rating of IP66, it’s designed to withstand the elements in many outdoor settings.

Let’s go into some further details…

A weather rating of IP66 means the soundbar is protected against high-pressure and multi-directional water jets, so you don’t have to worry when washing your vehicle. This also means the soundbar is protected in all weather conditions and suitable for use on boats.

Similar to the SE26 this one has RGB lighting which can be synced to the beat of the music, turned to a solid color, or off completely with ease.

This model has a built-in microphone to easily take calls on the move and operate OK Google and Siri through your soundbar.

The long-range Bluetooth feature is handy too so you can play your favorite music from 100 feet away without it disconnecting. The remote control can be operated at long range too so you can change the audio and light functions at a distance.

Plus, you can even connect two soundbars together at a 30-foot distance via the EcoCast feature and be immersed in sound.

Additionally, you can add more wired speakers to your setup by daisy chaining the aux out jack. The other inputs include a USB to charge your phone, a 14 AWG gauge speaker power wire, and an aux-in cable.

Although the sound quality is precise and clear, we found the bass to be lacking. The sound quality is good but doesn’t deliver audiophile-quality bass on this model.

The microphone and USB may not be compatible with all devices or platforms, but it would be worth checking before buying.

And, as always this soundbar has multiple mounting brackets and holes for various different ways you can place it. Take a look at customer reviews

FAQs

Can you leave outdoor speakers in the rain?

There are different types of outdoor speakers: weatherproof and weather-resistant. So this would depend on what type the speaker is.

If the speakers are specifically weather-resistant and designed to be outdoors, they can cope with some light outdoor elements.

If they are weatherproof then these types of speakers may be immune to harsher weather conditions and are more durable.

You can check how strong a speaker is against weather conditions by its IPX rating. This is a rating from 0-8 to describe how waterproof the product is. The higher the rating the more protected it is against water.

Nevertheless, we would not recommend leaving any speaker purposely in the rain. It is best to offer some protection to outdoor speakers to increase the lifespan of the model.

How many watts is good for an outdoor speaker?

The wattage of an outdoor speaker can depend on the size and style of the model. In general, higher wattage means a louder sound.

For small to medium outdoor spaces, a wattage of 50-100 would be well-suited. For larger areas, 100 and upwards would be better.

If you want to host large parties for a large outdoor space then investing in high wattage would be a good idea.

Can soundbars be outside?

Most soundbars are not built to deal with weather conditions and should be kept inside. However, the soundbars on this list are specifically designed to deal with outdoor elements. So yes, some soundbars can be placed outside.

When choosing a soundbar for outdoor use it’s important to do your research and look at its IPX rating and weather-resistant features.

Can outdoor speakers be left outside in winter?

You can leave an outdoor soundbar outside in the winter if it is specifically designed for outdoor use and has weather-resistant features.

Yet, we would recommend putting a cover on it for added protection. It’s important to take precautions and be mindful of the temperature that the speaker can withstand.

To get the most out of your outdoor speaker we would recommend not purposely exposing it to harsh weather conditions and standing water. If you protect it against these things it will increase the lifespan of the device.
